PREHISTORIC Weapons Guide: How to Get a Weapon and Use It During a Night Run
How to get a weapon in PREHISTORIC and use it with the G/H controls: buy the Shotgun, take it out with H, click to fire, and drive back dinosaurs on night runs.
Quick answer
Buy the Shotgun from the in-game shop. It arrives with 6 shells in your inventory bar — press H to take it out, then click to use it. Weapons are bound to G / H on the game's official controls list.
- Buying a Shotgun shows: Purchase completed - You have successfully bought Shotgun (6 shells)
- The on-screen prompt reads: SHOTGUN: 6 shells. Press H to take it out
- On Night 2 of a run, shotgun fire drove a T-Rex that broke into the living room back out of the house
- The flare (R key) is a separate item, not a weapon — the in-game broadcasts recommend it for specific predators
The direct route to a weapon in PREHISTORIC is buying one, and the Shotgun is the documented example: you purchase it at the shop, the game confirms the sale together with its shell count, and it sits in your inventory bar until you press the weapon key. This guide covers the purchase step by step, the G / H controls, the ammo and shop prices shown in-game, and what the Shotgun actually does when a dinosaur comes through your door during a night run.
How to get a weapon: buying the Shotgun

The purchase is quick, and the game tells you exactly what you got:
- Find the shop panel. It is labelled FOSSIL CREEK SECURITY and sits in the bottom-right of the shop screen.
- Buy the Shotgun. A confirmation message reads 'Purchase completed - You have successfully bought Shotgun (6 shells)', so you know both that the purchase worked and how much ammo you are starting with.
- Check the inventory bar. SHOTGUN appears there together with its shell count, so your remaining shells stay visible at a glance.
- Press H to take it out. The top of the screen prompts 'SHOTGUN: 6 shells. Press H to take it out' — the game itself points you at H when it is time to ready the weapon.
A fresh Shotgun starts with 6 shells, and that count is what you watch in the inventory bar as you fire.

Weapons are on G / H — click to use
PREHISTORIC's official controls list on its Roblox experience page binds weapons to G / H, with click to use. For the Shotgun specifically, the in-game prompt names H ('Press H to take it out'), so H is the key to hit when you need the gun ready in a hurry. Once it is out, you use it with a normal click.
For quick lookup during a night run, the complete official controls list:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Shift | Sprint |
| C | Sneak |
| F | Flashlight |
| R | Flare |
| G / H | Weapons (click to use) |
| 1 to 5 | Power-ups |
| E | Interact / Hide |
| Q | Lock Doors / Board Windows |
Locking up and hiding matter as much as shooting on most nights.
Ammo and the FOSSIL CREEK SECURITY shop
The shop screen also shows the rest of the store. Pistol ammo (24 ROUNDS) is listed at R$149, and the FOSSIL CREEK SECURITY panel in the bottom right offers:
| Shop item | Price shown |
|---|---|
| CAR ALARM | R$40 |
| FUEL TANK | R$29 |
| LOCK DOWN | R$64 |
| TEAM REVIVE | R$29 |
TABLE MENU also appears on the panel. Prices are as displayed on that shop screen.
What the Shotgun does during a night run
A concrete example shows the Shotgun in action: on Night 2 — the 'DON'T LOOK UP' night — a T-Rex broke into the living room, and shotgun fire drove it back, with on-screen text announcing '[a furious bellow shakes the floor]'.
That example demonstrates repelling an intruder, not killing one. Treat the Shotgun as the tool for the moment a dinosaur is already inside: take it out, click, and drive the animal back. It does not replace the rest of the night's defenses — the same night's broadcasts still push locked doors and a quiet house — but when something has broken in, the Shotgun is what pushed that T-Rex back out.
The flare is a separate tool, not a weapon
The flare lives on its own key (R) on the official controls list, and PREHISTORIC's civil-defense broadcasts treat it as a distinct tool with its own jobs. For the large animal reported hunting by sound, the broadcast advises 'A lit flare may drive it away'; for the fast predator patrolling the yards, 'A lit flare may draw it away'. In other words, the game's own guidance for those two threats points at flares rather than gunfire — the Shotgun is for the intruder already breaking in, while a lit flare is the broadcast-suggested answer for drawing away those particular predators.
