PREHISTORIC Lobby Settings Guide: Night, Difficulty, Weather & Friends Only

PREHISTORIC lobby settings guide: the NIGHT, DIFFICULTY, WEATHER and Friends Only options on the host lobby screen, plus how to start the night you chose.

Quick answer

In the PREHISTORIC lobby you can set the NIGHT you want to play, the DIFFICULTY, the WEATHER and the lobby TYPE (such as FRIENDS ONLY). Once your settings are in place, press the START NIGHT button and the game loads the night you selected.

  • NIGHT decides which night the session plays — the observed lobby had 1 - LIGHTS OUT selected.
  • DIFFICULTY and WEATHER are set on the same host lobby screen (NORMAL and CLEAR in the observed session).
  • The observed lobby's TYPE was set to FRIENDS ONLY; available footage does not show what the setting enforces.
  • START NIGHT launches your selection — the loading screen names the night, e.g. 'PREHISTORIC NIGHT 1 - LIGHTS OUT, 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM'.

What you can set in the PREHISTORIC lobby

The host lobby screen is where a PREHISTORIC run takes shape. The official experience page advertises three lobby options — choose your night, Difficulty, and Friends Only — and the host lobby screen itself shows selectable settings for NIGHT, DIFFICULTY, WEATHER, PLAYERS and TYPE. In one observed two-player session, the screen (headed "UNOTWOX'S LOBBY - NIGHT 1 - LIGHTS OUT") displayed:

SettingWhat we know about itExample from the observed session
NIGHTDecides which night the session plays1 - LIGHTS OUT
DIFFICULTYA selectable setting on the same screenNORMAL
WEATHERShown on the host lobby screen; its in-game effect was not demonstratedCLEAR
PLAYERSHow many players are in the lobby2/2
TYPESet to FRIENDS ONLY in the observed session; what it enforces was not demonstratedFRIENDS ONLY

These are one session's selections, not a fixed list of every value the game offers — the screen shows the current choice for each setting, under a header combining the lobby name with the selected night.

How to start the night you chose

  1. Open the host lobby screen, which lists the current NIGHT, DIFFICULTY, WEATHER, PLAYERS and TYPE selections.
  2. Set NIGHT to the night you want to play.
  3. Adjust DIFFICULTY, WEATHER and TYPE if you want to — the observed session ran NORMAL, CLEAR and FRIENDS ONLY.
  4. Press the START NIGHT button.
  5. A chapter loading screen confirms your selection and the night begins — starting Night 1 opened a screen reading "PREHISTORIC NIGHT 1 - LIGHTS OUT, 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM".

The NIGHT choice genuinely decides what you load: starting with Night 1 - LIGHTS OUT selected opened a loading screen reading "PREHISTORIC NIGHT 1 - LIGHTS OUT, 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM", while Night 3's loading screen reads "PREHISTORIC NIGHT 3 - DON'T MOVE". Nights carry their own titles.

What a chosen night looks like: Night 1 - LIGHTS OUT

To see what a NIGHT selection actually delivers, consider Night 1 (LIGHTS OUT) as it played in the observed run. Once the night began, the in-game TV displayed an EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM bulletin from the Fossil Creek Office of Civil Defense: a mandatory curfew is in effect from midnight to 6:00 AM. Its rules frame the whole night — stay inside your home, keep all lights away from your windows, and close your curtains and lock your doors, because "if you can see them through the glass, they can see you."

A later bulletin introduced the threat: a large animal has been reported on the main road, and it is believed to hunt by sound. The broadcast's advice in the moment: move slowly, do not run inside your home, and remember that a lit flare may draw it away.

That is one example of what the lobby's NIGHT setting selects between — a curfew scenario built around light discipline and quiet movement. It describes what Night 1 contained in the observed run, not a guaranteed template for every night or difficulty. When your own night starts, the PREHISTORIC survival tips guide covers staying alive, and the PREHISTORIC beginner guide covers the full first night of locks, boards and hiding.

Friends Only, difficulty and other setup

In the observed session the host ran a two-player match with TYPE set to FRIENDS ONLY. The sources show the setting exists and was used, but do not demonstrate what it restricts compared with a public lobby. For getting a group together in the first place, the PREHISTORIC how to play with friends guide covers the steps.

DIFFICULTY sits on the same screen; the observed session ran on NORMAL. If you are still shaping your first runs, the PREHISTORIC beginner guide walks through the basics of surviving your early nights.
